This article discusses about one of the founding fathers in the United States history. It is an article about Jack McAuliffe whose significance is seen in the brewing industry. As a technician in the navy, McAuliffe developed a liking for malted barley beer. This is what made him produce his own brew since he could not find any beer that was equivalent to his malted barley back in America. He did this by using his skills in engineering. His product attracted great attention nationwide. With the thought that his was a tiring job, McAuliffe sought to have a larger brewery. However, this was challenging since bankers were not willing to lend him money for his project.
By the time he was leaving the beer business, McAuliffe had inspired many people to start brewing. The author describes how he met this founding father after he had written about beer for 30 years.This led to the brewing business become very entrepreneurial and thus attracting many investors. An example of these brews is the ‘Jack and Ken’s Black Barleywine Ale.’ This is a beer which does not consist of the hot and solvent like taste. The article also shows how this founding father started his drinking. Through his brewing, McAuliffe became an expert in the field. He even started offering advice for the people in the brewing industry.
As Kitsock (2010) writes, McAuliffe has become the “technical guy.” This technical advice that he offers includes all the operations in brewing even advising those who have the hopes of turning pro on a budget. Therefore, from what was initially a liking of his special brew, McAuliffe has greatly contributed towards the advancement of the brewing industry in the United States.According to McAuliffe, skills are very important. These are what result to creativity and innovation and thus growth in different areas. For someone to succeed in something, they should have interest in that thing. This does not apply to the brewing industry only but even to the day to day lives of people.
Thus, creating interest is very important in ensuring success. Today, McAuliffe is celebrated as the founder of craft brewing and this came about because of interest. This also teaches that starting something does not need one to have a fortune. Even if the banks were not willing to lend him money, McAuliffe did not give up and thus managed to inspire other people into the business. Today, the United States is a first class nation in brewing. This then implies that the efforts and interests of an individual can go far in making a nation attain its economic growth.People always relax and have different ways of doing so. For some people it will be by taking beer.
Therefore, as a founding father, McAuliffe has contributed greatly in the lives of many people in the United States today. Through his work, many people stand to benefit. For instance, the advice that he offered is essential towards the American growth. This can further lead to other people venturing in brewing and thus enhancing the economy. Beer is one of the luxurious wants for many people today. McAuliffe has thus made great contributions in ensuring that people meet their personal wants. Therefore, his works though started as an interest are greatly applicable in the United States even up to date.
