Theory-guided research paper
Purpose:
This assignment helps the student to meet the following course objectives:
2. Evaluate and summarize professional nursing literature which supports theoretically
and conceptually derived practice solutions and research proposals.
3. Illustrate the conceptual-theoretical-empirical underpinnings of published nursing
research.
Directions:
• You are asked to read and critique a theory-guided research article and explain how the nursing theory relates to the research conducted. (
• Summarize the theory in one of the journal articles given to you by the course faculty, using the criteria below. (see attached)
• The summary should be about 3 pages in length, not counting the title page and reference page.
The paper should include these points:
• Briefly describe the problem and the reason the research is being done.
• Identify the theory and the basic concepts of the theory, as you have learned them from your assignments (use primary references, if possible).
• Describe how the theory guides the research.
o Develop your own CT(E) diagram from the research study (see other resources for this in assignment 2 folder).
• Recommend how the study findings might improve nursing practice.
