Orem’s Self Care Model
A 16 page paper discussing the ways that the concept of self-care has changed over the years, particularly as it relates to Orem’s self-care theory. Psychologically, it has been found that individuals more actively involved with their own health care often fare much better than those dependent on and at the mercy of the medical community. Combining these psychological perspectives with the practicalities of managed care has resulted in a significant increase in the numbers of people performing self-care at home. Much of that activity is undertaken within the framework of the Orem Self-Care Model. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
