The Affordable care Act signed in to action by President Obama in 2010. This act made it possible for all Americans to receive medical treatment at an affordable cost. Through Obama care this allows for more independent practice of advanced care practitioners to see patients on a consistent basis. Ogundipe, etal. (2015) informs that the affordable care act provided an extension of medicaid to millions of Americans. This law drastically influenced nursing especially adbvanced care practitioners due to the increase demand and need of these individuals to provide patient care.
I am completely supportive of the Affordable Care Act. I believe that it allows for a lower cost of healthcare and healthcare affordable for all. People complain about how much the United States is in debt compared to other countries but, I believe that with regulation on healthcare cost and especially requiring health insurance for all, this will lead to a drastic reduction in healthcare costs. This is also encourage patients to seek health assistance to prevent the development of chronic diseases. According to Ogundipe, etal. (2015) before this act millings faced the issues of attaining a provider that would see them due to their insurance plan. Easy access to health is a must especially because of the multiple individuals suffering from chronic ailments. An article by Lipira, Williams, Hutcheson, Katz, (2017) describes an important concept for HIV care and the impact of the Affordable Care Act. It indicates with more access to healthcare, there was a decline in transmission of HIV. The ACA continues to affect a majority of individuals and can only do good for our country.
