A. Course Overview | This course will provide opportunities to the learners to develop skills in community health utilizing the nursing process. This course will integrate fundamentals of community health, population health, culture, family dynamics, interprofessional collaboration, patient education, health promotion, health policy, disease prevention and disaster management. This course combines didactic and community health skills across the lifespan. The course is built on the nine essentials of baccalaureate education for nursing practice and emphasizes concepts such as patient-centered care, interprofessional teams, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, patient safety, informatics, clinical reasoning and critical thinking, genetics and genomics, cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and practice across the lifespan in an everchanging and complex healthcare environment (AACN, 2008).
