Callister Roy: Nursing Theory
10 pages in length. The application of nursing requires much more than merely administering drugs and treatments; rather, the overall concentration of nursing is based significantly more within the psychological components of the patient/caregiver relationship than most people realize. Such prominent individuals as Sr. Callister Roy put forth nursing theories that effectively addressed the intrinsic four paradigms: nursing, health, person and environment. In its purest form, Roy’s holistic approach seeks to treat the entire being as a single entity, rather than address it as a singular component. It strives to achieve wellness in the most natural manner possible, while at the same time incorporating such modalities as acupuncture and homeopathy to provide a well-rounded appeal. These are the aims of holistic practitioners; with their overall approach to health being that of a self-help nature, they believe that by instilling the principles of fitness and good health, it will create a synergistic approach to life as a whole.
