ANE (academic nurse educator) Role Analysis
For this task, you’ll need to find an academic nurse educator and talk to them about their job, responsibilities, and values in their current position. Choose interview questions that ask about the academic nurse educator’s role in a formal academic setting, responsibilities as a teacher, curriculum development and change, interprofessional collaboration, and working within the academic community.
Set up a good time to talk to the nurse educator and give yourself enough time to finish the interview without being interrupted. You could use a recording device and ask for permission to record the interview so you don’t have to take notes during the interview. You can do the transcription later.
After the interview, you will make a Panopto-recorded video presentation that includes a description of the nurse educator’s role, a summary of interview responses, your thoughts on the academic nurse educator’s role, and an analysis of the interview.
You will also have to turn in a formal narrative paper in APA format that analyzes the role of the academic nurse educator and sums up a problem that you and the academic nurse educator talked about in your interview. In the formal paper, you must use scholarly sources that are up-to-date and have been reviewed by other scholars.
You will talk to an academic nurse educator in a semi-structured interview with follow-up questions. In addition to the 5 core questions, you must also come up with 5 follow-up questions for the interview. Your questions should focus on the academic nurse educator’s role in a formal academic setting, as a teacher, in curriculum development and change, interprofessional collaboration, and working within the academic community.
A. Send in an interview guide with questions and answers to 5 of the 10 core questions and 5 follow-up questions that came up during the interview.
Note: Use the core questions in the attachments section as a guide. You should ask follow-up questions to the teacher’s answers to make sure you understand and get more information.
B. Analyze the academic nurse educator interview by making a Panopto video presentation.
Note: The length of your video presentation should be between 20 and 30 minutes.
Note: To learn how to access and use Panopto, watch the “Panopto (PC Users)” video or the “Panopto (MAC Users)” video by clicking on the appropriate link below. To get to Panopto’s website, click on the link that says “Panopto Access” and then choose “WGU” when asked how to log in. If asked, sign in with your WGU student portal login information, and it will take you to Panopto’s website.
To turn in your recording, put it in the “Evolving Roles of Nurse Educators – MFP2 | C918” drop box on Panopto. Once the recording has been sent to Panopto and processed,
system, get the recording’s URL from Panopto and paste it into the Links section.
