Instructions
This assignment assesses the following intended course outcomes:
2. Apply systematic research practices to identify family and community health system needs.
4. Discuss the multi-dimensional role of the community health nurse in risk reduction and health promotion.
The student will choose a community agency to visit after receiving prior approval from the instructor. The student will make an appointment to speak to the director or other appropriate staff member at the agency. A three-to-five page report will be written that discusses the purpose and funding of the agency, population served, and role of health care professionals employed at the agency. In addition, the interview should include questions such as: How do the members of the agency work together as an interdisciplinary team? Are there any community partnerships? What is the most important community health need, and how has the agency addressed this need?
The students must include at least one peer-reviewed reference in their report and utilize APA format.
As a registered nurse, you are expected to engage in professional behavior at all times during your agency visit. All students are required to maintain professional attire and proper grooming for their agency visit (no jeans, t-shirts, shorts, or sneakers).
The paper for the agency visit will be based on the following criteria:
Description of agency, including identified staff member, purpose, and funding for the agency
30%
Description of the population served and the impact the agency has had on the population
30%
Identification of a community need and how the agency addressed the need
30%
APA, spelling, grammar, organization of the paper/references
10%
