Assignment: Theory Application Papers:
Prepare an 8-10 page paper (not including cover page, abstract, and reference pages), incorporating a minimum of 10 articles from professional literature that examines a concept, identifies and describes a related theory and the application of the theory to research and practice. Students will submit their completed draft of the paper Week 6 to the Assignments (SafeAssign) forum of the course shell.
The draft should have all of the elements of the final paper, in APA format, complying with the criteria in the Graduate Writing Rubric (Appendix I). The draft is worth 5% of the course grade.

Explain why this concept is of interest to you
Examine from the literature the concept’s relationship to the practice of nursing
Concept – 10 points
Define the concept from the dictionary and at least two sources in the professional literature
Identify the attributes, or characteristics, of the concept as described in professional literature
Theory Description, Analysis and Evaluation – 30 points (literature and websites)
What are the major concepts of the theory?
How are these concepts related?
Explain if the theory is logical and clearly described
Conceptual Framework for Research and Practice – 15 points (Identify an empirical research article utilizing the theory as a conceptual framework)
How did the authors use the theory as a conceptual framework for their study?
Is this theory supported by empirical evidence? In other words, do the findings from the study support or refute the theory?
Are the study’s findings relevant and generalizable to multiple populations and cultures?
Identify the implications for practice as supported in literature – 10 points
Is the theory consistent with current nursing standards and practice?
How does this theory contribute to nursing knowledge and impact nursing practice?
